Albendazole - suitable for children with threadworm?

Is albendazole a good medicine to give my 6 year old daughter who is in a cycle of infection/reinfection with thread worm? Are the side effects outweighed by the probable benefits? I'm finding it hard to maintain constant extreme good hygiene measures - ie the frequent bed linen changes, towel changes and daily hoovering.
