Good slow recipe for stew beef vegetable soup.?

i'm looking for a good slow cooking (not necessarily in a slow cooker) recipe for vegetable stew using stew beef with a tomato soup or juice base. it may also include beef or chicken broth (i would prefer this actually) it can be a simple outline i am willing to work with anything. i cooked a soup last year & it was wonderful but i lost the recipe. i would like to cook this for some friends but make enough to keep & freeze so large quantities are ok. any suggestions or recipes will be welcomed & a thumbs up to all!!! thank you!!
