Aren't restaurants require to provide nutritional information?

There is no official Fedral Law requiring restaurants to list the nutrional information of thier menu, alhtough there is a bill in the house to require, especially for fast food restaurants. The only time a restaurant is require by Federal law to list this, is if the menu item advertises a specific benefit to the food, (atkins, south beach ect...) Other than that it is not required. Some states, counties, and even cities are now requiring their restaurants provide nutrional info for all menu items (NYC is one) It may happen soon though, that the federal govement may p this law so keep an eye on your local restaurant menu.
